Frgál is the pride of Wallachian region. Its name was used for a spoilt pie. The pie is protected by geographical indication since 2013 so you can be sure that it is always prepared according to the traditional recipe using the best ingredients. 

It is characterized by its filling which is twice as thick as its dough.First mention of this dainty come from 1829. Originally it used to be made filled with sauerkraut or beetroot, however, nowadays they are eaten only in its sweet form. Frgál is a round pie with various flavours, the traditional ones are cream cheese and poppy sead. On top of it there is a streusel. Fruit fillings like pear, apple or blueberry where added later. Frgál used to be prepared for special feasts like Christmas or Easter.
