The maze of corridors beneath the city dates back to 14th century and it stretches for 25 km. Unlike many other city undergrounds found in Europe, the Znojmo catacombs served as a shelter during the time of wars. The tunnels were connected to every house in the city so that people could use it as a storage for farming products and thus they could survive for a long time. Nowadays it serves mainly to its visitors. In certain places the secret passages are on four different levels. The complex corridors offers mysterious alchemist laboratory, alive stones, elves, prison, torture chamber and more.
For those who don't mind a little water, mud, climbing, walking bent and sometimes on all fours with nothing but a light on your safety helmet, there are available the parts of underground labyrinth. It surely gives you goose-bumps.
