Touch of Modest Past Times: Open-air Museum in Roznov pod Radhostem
The open-air museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm is a place where you can savour the Czech traditions with all your senses. Or rather Wallachian traditions.
The people from this region have a distinctive language, culture and folklore. The museum is divided into four parts, out of which the Wooden Town is the oldest and most visited open-air museum in Central Europe. At weekends, many folklore festivals and markets take place here.
The exposition of the Wallachian Village focuses on rural life of Wallachs where you'll see people dressed in folk costumes doing everyday chores and on special occasions like Christmas, you can taste the traditional pastry. During the stroll through the village you will see herds of animals happily running around the fields.
The Water Mill Valley, the youngest exposition, includes still working technical constructions - mill, drop hammer or saw.
